Make an extra picnic blanket

We have a picnic blanket that folds into a bag and I use it all the time, however it often gets left in the car when my husband takes it to work and then I am always dragging different blankets out to the yard to lay out for picnic lunches, lounging around on or just plain trying to keep the baby from eating leaves and acorns ( this was the case yesterday). I've had this piece of fabric for a while now (revived from a generous freecycler) and have been planning to make an extra blanket, the fabric is fairly heavy and yet folds up small to keep by our back door or even leave in the bin with our chair pads. and this week I finally got around to finishing it up.

Here is a quick run-down of how I did it. I cut the fabric in half (it really was the perfect size and was screaming to be made into a picnic blanket from the start.) placed the two good sides together and sewed around the edges leaving a hole to turn the blanket right side out. then I sewed around the edges and closed the hole. finally to keep the blanket flat i sewed along the stripes on one side in a zig zag pattern so on one side it follows the stripes and on the other it crosses them.

Repurpose Fabric for my Daughters room

This past week was a week for re-purposing some fabric to add some touches to her room. earlier in the week she asked me for a garbage can.. and while I had a few plain white ones kicking around that was just not going to do for her room so following the instructions to make the Crayon Holder I made last week, I covered an old garbage can that was not being used with a receiving blanket that was also no longer being used. then to help her keep the bag in her garbage and add a little decoration I made a band That I had seen earlier in the week, the flower is the same one I make for the flower hats earlier this year. Valentines Day Treats: Gummy Roses

The past week has been a furry of valentines crafts and baking around this house today I will post a few of the projects we have worked on. the first project was crated after reading a post over at craft berry blush on how to make some gummy treat roses.I knew I had to try it. here are my results: I started with the following This was my beginning materials 2 Gummies a Stick a rolling pin some granulated sugar and some scissors ( not pictured) and finished up with this.
